Important Info For thebws.com Users

May 9, 2010 - 10:40pm — Brandon

This weekend I consolidated thebws and a number of other domains onto one new host.  I'm really excited about what this move means.  If you host files here, use email, or help me develop software, there are some great improvements and more are on the way. For now, there are some important things you need to know.

Downtime & Drupal 7

April 15, 2010 - 8:18pm — Brandon

Hey, there's a lot going on behind the scenes here. There will be a lot of changes in the 2nd half of this year. I will post about that in a little while.

Enable 4-Finger Gestures on an Early 2008 Macbook Pro/Air

December 18, 2008 - 1:46am — Brandon

Just a quick post for MacRumors + OSX Hints forum members, that will hopefully save me from typing out these instructions a bunch (more) times.
If you have an early 2008 MacBook Pro, or a Revision A MacBook Air (like me!), it was recently shown that they can be hacked to support the 4-finger swipe gestures of the October MacBooks and Revision B MacBook Air.

Einstein's Puzzle (Warning: Nerdy)

December 18, 2007 - 2:33am — Brandon

Someone sent me a URL with this puzzle. It's attributed to Einstein, who claimed that only 2% of the population could solve it. I seriously doubt that Einstein had anything to do with it, and I solved it so it can't be that hard! I tried to look into the history, but Wikipedia also attributes it to Einstein - oh well.

It took me about 35mins, so give it a go and drop me a message if you beat my time! :D

The Real Hustle

December 15, 2007 - 2:12pm — Brandon

I'm not a huge YouTube fan, but this set of videos is quite clever. It's basically 3 people conning unsuspecting citizens, which is always fun to watch, isn't it? (As long as it isn't you getting conned, that is ;) ) Plus they have English accents, which I'm a huge sucker for.

Digg.com Front Page

December 1, 2007 - 8:47pm — Brandon

If you've never heard of Digg, it's a popular social bookmarking/user submitted news site. Users submit links and other users can 'Digg it' (+1 point) if they liked it and bury it (-1 point) if they don't. The front page of Digg.com lists the hottest upcoming stories at that moment. As a story gets more Diggs, it is more prominently featured, and you get a snowball effect with more and more users flocking to that story.

I Bought A Mac

September 9, 2007 - 1:10pm — Brandon

MacbookMacbookJust a quick update... I bought a MacBook for school and I absolutely love it. I almost dread having to go on my PC, and really haven't touched it for weeks. As a total Mac n00b I've steadily been discovering all the cool Mac apps and features. I plan on writing a "Noob's guide to the mac" sometime in the near future - which will really be just a huge list of cool programs and features that all mac noobs should try out. I've also updated my old post about syncing folders in iTunes.

Barenboim on Beethoven

June 29, 2007 - 10:13pm — Brandon

In late March I was channel hopping and happened to see one of my favorite classical pianists, Lang Lang. It turns out the show I happened to catch was a BBC show entitled "Barenboim on Beethoven."

Syncing Music Folders in iTunes

March 21, 2007 - 6:04pm — Brandon

One of the most annoying things about iTunes (I'm using 7.2.0.34) is that its unable to keep track of changes you make to your music folders. So for example, I keep all of my music in D:\Music, but I'm constantly adding, deleting and modifying files within that folder. iTunes will NOT keep track of the changes I make, and wont update the files in my library.
